Council: Chobe District Description: Chobe District is located on the North most part of the country forming international boundary with the caprivi strip of Namibia to the North West, Zambia to the North and Zimbabwe to the East, Chobe can be said to be the home of game in Botswana. The district has diverse animal species including the so called “BIG FIVE” and a booming tourism industry. The district council has developed a gender action plan during a workshop with Gender Links in 2010, which is to be adopted by the council. Council: Francistown Description: The City of Francistown is the second city in the country is situated in the Northern part of Botswana closer to the borders of Zimbabwe. The city is reckoned for booming mining industry and with potential for tourism as it is a gateway to tourism destinations, such as Nata, Maun and Kasane. Council: Ghansi District Description: The district is the largest game reserve complex in the country and the reserve provides wide base for satisfying tourist activities and research. Ghanzi is also characterised by an assortment of ethnic and cultural groupings and with different languages spoken. The internationally known annual Kuru Dance Festival mainly Basarwa dance and culture is hosted by Ghanzi District. As a local authority the council is mandated to provide infrastructure, social services and economic development through programs and projects. Council: Kgatleng District Description: The district is nestled between Gaborone City and South East District Councils in the South, Kweneng District Council in the west and Central District on the North and linked to the north and south by the Botswanas main A1 road. Council: Letlhakeng Sub District Council Description: Letlhakeng or Lethakeng is an urban village in Kweneng District of Botswana. The village is located 75 km north-west of Molepolole. The population of Letlhakeng was 6,032 in the 2001 census.The majority of the people of Letlhakeng are considered part of the Bakwena tribe, which is administered from the kgotla in Molepolole. However, aside from that many people speak a version of Se-Kgalagadi - a language distinct from but related to Setswana. It has a secondary school; a small hospital serves the community as well as three primary schools and a number of local government offices. Until 2005, the tarred roads ended at the village center and onward journeys were seasonally interrupted due to the gravel or sand roads. However, it is now possible to travel to most neighboring villages without difficulty following a major road building programme. Council: Maun District Description: North-West District Council is one of the local authorities of Botswana. It was established in 1966, overlapping the administrative districts of Chobe and Ngamiland. Since 2006, when the Chobe District Council was established, it only administers Ngamiland. North-West's location in the country causes it to share borders with the following foreign areas: Omaheke Region, Namibia – southwest, Otjozondjupa Region, Namibia – west, Okavango Region, Namibia – northwest, Caprivi Region, Namibia – north.
