Habitat: There was an open crack running across the floor slab, and our youngsters had seen a garter snake escape that-a-way. Also, it was Fall, so maybe a narrow opening into a warm and dry foundation might have rung the 'hibernate' bell.

Habitat: The salamander was found under a pile of poplar logs on mowed lawn at the edge of a gravel driveway. There is numerous damp/swampy areas close by also the terrain is forest edge. Prairie to the south and natural poplar forest to the north. There is an area of planted spruce as well.

Habitat: Large, wide creek with fairly deep water. The creek has a large number of stumps and rocks along both shores. Near a significant waterfall. Found in a creek just off of Pinawa Bay, which is a large, mostly mud-bottom, relatively shallow bay. Creek is a known spawning area for numerous fish species. A fair number of waterfowl breed in this area (baby Mallards and Loons were seen the same date).

Habitat: A small pothole (wet enough to have reeds growing in it, at least until this summer) just inside the fence on the south airport boundary. The air force has a small golf course inside the fence that encloses it on 3 sides. Up until this year there was a large open field on the other side outside the fence but they ran a bicycle/hiking trail about 4 meters from it last year. So far they have left the grass long between the trail and the fence.
