Name: UCPBA Dinner Meeting with Guest Speaker Dr. Roman Serbyn
Description: Professor Serbyn, one of the world’s leading authorities on the Holodomor, will speak about his research on the famine-genocide, which devastated Ukrainian towns and villages in 1932-33 during Stalin’s rule. Dr. Roman Serbyn is a Canadian historian of Ukrainian origin. He received his doctorate from McGill University (Montreal), and from 1969 to 2002 taught in the History Department of the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). He is author and editor of several books and has published articles on 19th and 20th century Ukrainian history in English, French, Ukrainian and Russian. His main fields of research in recent years have been the famine of 1921-1923, the Holodomor of 1932-1933, and Ukraine during World War II. Now retired, he edits Holodomor Studies, a semiannual scholarly journal devoted to the study of the Ukrainian genocide and related topics.
