(Comunalia) is engaging approximately 50 employees of community foundations in designing a participatory strategic and operational plan for the network, drawing on the principles of grassroots development. Based on an assessment of resources, Comunalia is initiating its planning work by researching, documenting, and sharing grassroots development practices of its members. Through this process, Comunalia expects to make community foundations more effective organizations and more responsive to organized civil society needs. The project is benefiting 148 community foundation staff, 206 board members, and 384 community volunteers. The long-term results of the planning process are expected to include more community foundation resources for organized low-income residents reflecting the philosophy and purpose of grassroots development. |
