DECEASED BIO: Christina Pearl Franklin was shot and killed in front of a North Las Vegas day care by the father of her children. According to police, Travis Spitler shot the woman and both of their children before turning the gun on himself. Franklin had a temporary protective order against Spitler and had appeared in court two days before the shooting to testify against her ex in a domestic violence case. The case stemmed from a December attack that left Franklin hospitalized, police documents show. According to court records, Franklin had moved out after the attack and Spitler hadn't made contact with her until the pair were face to face at Spitler's preliminary hearing. DECEASED BIO: The body of Kristopher Paul Alofaituli, 38, was found inside a car trunk May 11 in a south valley neighborhood. A neighbor in the area of Rococo Court and Villeroy Avenue — near Cactus Avenue and Southern Highlands Parkway — called police about 10:20 a.m. to report a car that had been there for a few days. When officers arrived to check out the black, four-door sedan, they found the man’s body in the trunk. It appeared Alofaituli had been deceased for some time due to the level of decomposition. Clark County District Court records show Alofaituli pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery with a deadly weapon in December 2006. He served about eight years and got out on parole in October 2014. He was arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance in June 2015 and was in possession of counterfeit money, a violation of his parole. He spent eight more months in custody and was released Feb. 19. Alofaituli pleaded guilty to the drug charge Feb. 4 and was scheduled to appear in court for his sentencing April 7. He also had an April 12 court date in the case involving counterfeit money, but he missed both court appearances.
